At Grandview Painting, we often get questions about our process, our work, and home painting projects in general. If you also have these inquiries, you’ll find many of the answers here! If you don’t see the information you’re after, please contact us and we will be happy to answer all of your questions so that you can make the best decision for your home.

With professional prep and high-quality products, exterior paint lasts 8–10 years depending on weather conditions. We offer a 3-year warranty for added peace of mind.
Yes! Our in-house colour consultation services pair you with a professional designer to help you choose the perfect palette for your space.
Painting costs depend on the size, scope, and materials involved in your project. For accurate pricing, we offer free, detailed quotes with no hidden fees.
Many times painting comes along with other remodeling work. Generally speaking, if adding or replacing hardwood floors to your home, the process will also involve removing baseboards in order to complete. We prefer you to install your floors, then your finishings. Once everything is reinstalled, it’s the best time for us to paint!
Yes, however our minimum job cost is $1000+GST
We have an up to date Work Safe BC account, and maintain a $5,000,000 general liability insurance policy. With safety in mind, we will do everything we can to avoid any accidents on the jobsite. However, accidents can happen. In the event of anything being broken during the process of the job, or any injuries that may occur, you don’t need to worry about losing any sleep

We regularly provide strata and commercial painting services across Greater Vancouver. Our team is experienced in coordinating with property managers and working around tenant schedules.
We always recommend using the best available products suited towards your specific project. We typically work with 3 suppliers, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams and Cloverdale Paint to find the best product for your job. Using a lower quality product may save you in the short term, but will typically end up costing more in the long run!
All of our work is covered by an all-inclusive 3-year warranty. We stand by our work, and will come out to fix up any problem areas that you may find.
We warranty quality work. That means we require a full power wash, all the necessary prep work, and quality materials in order for us to back up the work. If any corners are cut, you may save money in the short run but we cannot guarantee that the job will last.

How It Works
Our residential painting covers interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, siding, doors, and trim. We handle all prep work, painting, and cleanup so your space is move-in ready.
Your happiness and satisfaction is our top priority. In order to make things as efficient, convenient and straightforward as possible we have set out below a few requirements that we will need on your part before we begin your project.
In preparation of our arrival we kindly require the following:
Please ensure areas being painted are accessible and ready for painting.
For Interiors: This requires furniture being moved away from the walls and any pictures or wall hanging to be removed. (Any large items can be arranged with our team if necessary).
We ask that all interior areas and surfaces to be painted are free of any dust and any other dirt or debris prior to painting. Interior Painting can be an invasive, and we may need to occupy a lot of your space, depending on the scope of work. We understand it’s not always possible, but ask for the areas being painted to be vacant while we’re working in those areas.
For Exteriors: Please ensure all personal belongings are away from the property, and we have access to move around the property freely, with room to set up ladders and
equipment.
In order to properly achieve safe ladder positioning, we also may need to access your neighbours’ yards on some projects, and kindly request they be notified of our arrival prior to the pressure washing phase.
You can call or fill out a request for a quote online. We typically respond the same day. We can give you a rough price virtually based on information provided, but we find it’s always best to set up a time to meet in person in order to answer all of your questions, and take a closer look at the required work. This way, a detailed proposal outlining all aspects of your project, can be emailed to you!
We offer a complementary colour sampling of 2 colours on all of our projects prior to painting. If any additional colours are required, we can apply those too for a small fee to cover the paint costs. If you’re having troubles selecting colours, we also work with a few amazing, interior designers who are willing to provide you with an in home, 1 hour, colour consultation at a reasonable price!
Exterior House Painting
Costs vary based on the size of your home, the type of siding, the number of coats and the condition of what’s already there. Most full exterior repaints on single-family homes in Greater Vancouver fall somewhere between $3,000 and $10,000+. The best way to get an accurate number is a free on-site estimate. The exterior season in the Lower Mainland typically runs from mid-April through mid-October. Booking early is always the best move because it gives you more flexibility on timing. Early summer tends to produce the best results, when temperatures are moderate and humidity is lower. That said, specialty products can be applied in near-freezing conditions when needed.
No. Wet or rainy conditions compromise paint adhesion and the final finish. Projects are planned around suitable conditions, and weather is monitored carefully throughout. Most high-quality paints become rain-resistant within 90 minutes of application, but the cautious approach always wins. If unexpected weather affects your project, you’ll hear from us promptly.
We could write a whole article on this question! Clearly, you want to avoid rainy conditions when taking on an exterior painting project. If you’re surprised by rainfall during your project, stop painting immediately; wait until the rain stops and your painting surface is dry. With most high quality paint, your project will be rain-resistant as long as the paint is applied at least 90 minutes before rainfall. Another big concern is humidity. If the humidity is too high, paint can dry improperly. In short, the industry standard is to paint on a surface whose temperature is more than 5 degrees above the dew point—the temperature at which water droplets begin to condense.
Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Cloverdale Paint. These are among the most trusted products available for the Lower Mainland’s climate, chosen for moisture resistance, durability and UV protection. Lower-grade products aren’t used. The quality of the paint matters as much as the quality of the work, and there’s no interest in compromising on either.
A full exterior repaint on a single-family home typically takes 3 to 7 days, depending on the size, complexity and number of coats. A trim-only job can sometimes wrap up in a day or two. A timeline estimate is included with your written quote so you know what to plan around.
Moving plants, outdoor furniture and other items away from the walls is helpful where possible. If there are shrubs or planters that can’t be moved, just mention it ahead of time — foliage and landscaping are protected during the work. All surface preparation is handled by our team.
Yes. Every project is backed by a 3-year workmanship warranty. That’s possible because of the quality of materials used and the care taken in applying them. Paint and materials are supplied directly, which keeps quality control where it belongs.

Colour selection is one of the most important parts of the process, and it gets easier with the right guidance. Our team walks through colour considerations during the estimate — taking into account the home’s architecture, the roof colour and the neighbourhood.
Look for someone who is licensed, insured and willing to provide a detailed written estimate. Check that they’re using quality products and not just quoting low while cutting corners on materials. Also, make sure to read the reviews. A strong local reputation, earned over real projects, is the clearest indicator of what you’ll get. We ask that all plants and other foliage be trimmed back from the house as best as possible, before our team arrives. Sometimes we understand that this is not always possible, and this can most certainly be addressed for your unique project prior to painting!
Our exterior season begins in mid April and finishes mid October. (weather permitting) There are specialty products on today’s market that can be applied in near freezing temperatures. However, If booked early enough in the year, the best time is early or late summer. Not too hot, and not too cold. The less humidity in the air the better!
No two projects are the same! A trim painting job could take as little as 1 day, to a full repaint taking multiple weeks. We find most exterior painting jobs are completed in 5 days.
Interior House Painting
Yes, in almost every case. We work room by room and clean up at the end of each day so the house stays livable while the project is underway. On larger jobs, or where oil-based products are involved, we will talk through timing and what to expect during your estimate. Contact us to plan your project.
That is up to you! Your project is scoped to whatever you want covered, whether that’s a single wall or a full interior repaint. Most clients find it more cost effective to do everything at once, since it means one setup and one cleanup instead of several. We build the estimate around the surfaces you care about, and we’ll tell you honestly if leaving something out is going to look unfinished next to the new work.
You do, always. We offer professional colour consultations to help you get there, working with your flooring, lighting and furniture rather than a paint chip under fluorescent light. The final call is yours.
Yes. Depending on the shade you are going to, it may take a primer or an extra coat, since some whites and accent colours are less opaque than others. We flag that during the estimate so it is priced in from the start rather than added later.
It depends on the size of the space, how much prep and repair is needed, how many coats the colour change requires and any access or scheduling complications. Rather than guess at a number, we come out, look at the actual space and give you a line-by-line estimate for free. Schedule an estimate today.
Interior paint typically lasts five to 10 years with proper prep and quality products. The rooms you live in hardest go first, so kids’ bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms often need attention every few years, while a spare room can go much longer. Plenty of repaints happen simply because the colour no longer suits the space.
Most of the products we use are low or zero VOC, which means rooms can usually be ventilated and slept in the same day once the paint has dried. Oil-based primers are the exception and need longer airing out. If a project calls for one, we will discuss it and the alternatives with you before any work starts.
Some of it, yes, and we will be clear about what we need before we arrive. Furniture pulled away from walls and pictures and wall hangings taken down, makes the job faster and safer for your belongings. Large or awkward items can be arranged with our team, and wherever possible we ask that the rooms being painted are clear while we are working in them.
Most interior projects run one to five days. A single room can be done in a day, while a full house repaint can stretch to a couple of weeks. Whatever the scope, we work to be out of your space as quickly as the job can be done properly.
Yes. Every interior project comes with a 3-year workmanship warranty, covering peeling, cracking or other issues tied to how the work was done. If something’s not right within that window, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.
Final payment is not due until we have walked the finished space together and you are happy with it. Payment terms and any deposit are laid out in your written estimate before work begins, so nothing about the money is a surprise.
Occasionally we uncover something that was hidden, like water damage behind a wall or failing drywall. You will know before we touch it, along with what it will take to fix and what it costs. Nothing gets added to your invoice without your go-ahead.

We promise to leave you satisfied at the end of the job. A final walk around will be done prior to collecting a final payment to ensure your satisfaction with the work done on your home.

We promise to keep the jobsite clean. This includes using drop sheets around the home, masking off the home properly, and cleaning up at the end of the day. Any drips or messes will be cleaned up before completion of the job.
We promise to keep your quality our focus. A detailed written agreement will outline the quality of products and prep work that will be included on the painting of your home. We promise to honor those agreements, to fulfill all of the prep work, and to use the quality materials that you choose. We stand by our work!
We promise to maintain thorough communication throughout your painting process. This includes everything from scheduling your estimate, to choosing your colors and setting up your start date, to keeping you updated prior to and throughout the job.
